This photograph shows the two homes that stand on Center Street which encompasses the south side of the Wendell Common. The building on the left was used as a home and store by J. Forbes in 1871, and next to it is the Otis Chittendon home. Chittendon ran the store before Forbes. Both buildings replaced ones that burned to the ground in 1851; these were both built in 1853.Note the horse and two buggies next to the Chittendon home.
