About

Wendell Historical Society (MA)

The Wendell Historical Society — chartered in April, 2023 — is this town’s first historical museum, repository and digital archive. In our first 6 months we raised enough funds to purchase the former post office and store in Wendell Depot, MA. This vintage 1930 structure was built by Wallace "Goldie" Goldsmith as a home with an attached barber shop. We are now restoring and renovating our building to create a secure, environmentally-controlled museum for our growing collection. Located near the Mohawk Trail, the Millers River and the former Vermont and Massachusetts rail line, we share over 250 years of settlers history and more than 10,000 years of native peoples' history with our Eastern Franklin County neighbors and consider the Wendell Historical Society a regional hub for history and more. Learn something new! Explore our shared past through this unique online museum and digital collection.
